We will be raking soon so I thought this infographic might be of interest. Enjoy!
Well I came up today to start prepping for fall but besides a chill in the air it still looks like summer here.
Many of the plants are still untouched by frost and the geraniums are still budding. I can’t even take any leaves as they are still predominantly green.
It looks as though Pat’s grass garden did well over the past few weeks and even the hollyhock is still growing though I have been able to collect some seeds. We will see what the next few weeks have in store when we are both able to get here and start the end of summer shut down.
Well it appears that not only is summer over but so is fall.
Ok so autumn isn’t over for a few weeks but it sure does feel like it. I don’t have any wintry schoolhouse shots yet but the ones from this fall are a reminder that winter is on its way.
Well it is officially autumn.
After a recent trip to Sudbury I noticed the leaves were starting to turn. A favorite time of year! So here is an infographic I found that talks a little bit about the leaves and their lovely fall colours.
The calendar says otherwise but it feels like fall out here.
There is a distinct chill in the air. I guess it is time to put the patio furniture away in the shed and tidy up the potted plants. Mulch the beds and put everything to bed until the spring.
How could it have been Labour Day just two weeks ago?
Well I guess I can’t put it off any longer. It is time to start raking the leaves.
Actually that isn’t true. I can totally put it off and wait until spring. Or I can never do it at all and then just mulch them when I cut the grass for the first time in 2014. It’s all been done before.
But alas I’ve seen the light and I want to rake this fall. With as many trees as we have it is a tedious and arduous process but I need the exercise and its a good thing to do.
I actually found some helpful tips for raking and fall yard work in Organic Gardening recently.
I don’t think my mower can handle the workload considering the number of leaves we get here but I will try to work them in where I can. I guess we all now know what I will be doing the next few weekends I am up!
Now that cooler weather is here and frost is imminent if not already at the schoolhouse, my summer photos will have to suffice for the winter.
